WEEK TWO

Preschool

Jesus teaches me important things.

Bible Story

Birds and Flowers
Matthew 6:25-34

Jesus talks about birds and flowers to teach us that God knows what we need and He cares for us.

MEMORY VERSE

“The people were amazed at his teaching.”

Matthew 7:28, NCV

Engagement Questions

  • Who teaches you important things?
  • Jesus teaches us that God gives us what we need, and God created so many yummy foods for us. What is your favorite thing to eat?

Prayer

“Dear God, thank You for caring so much about us. Jesus teaches us that since You take care of birds and flowers, then You will take care of us too, because You love people…A LOT! Thank You for food. You are so good to not only give us food, but You make it yummy to eat, too! You're the best God, and we love You! In Jesus' name, amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

When you go into your child’s room, cuddle them and say: "Good morning, [child's name]! Let's go look out of the window and see if we see any birds or flowers. (Look together.) Jesus teaches us that God cares for the birds and flowers, and God cares even more for people!"

Drive Time

While on the go, count how many birds you see or how many different colors of birds you can find. Talk about how Jesus teaches that if God cares enough about birds to make sure they have food, then God cares even more that people have food!

Cuddle Time

Cuddle with your child and pray: "God, thank You for sending Jesus to teach us that You will take care of us. Help us to trust You and be thankful for what we have."

Bath Time

Add toy food, a mixing bowl, a plastic plate, and a plastic spoon to bath time. Ask your child to cook some food for you, and when they give you food, say, "Thank you for giving me food to eat." Talk about how Jesus teaches us not to worry about what food we will eat. God knows what we need, and God cares about us.
